A transit of Venus is when the planet Venus appears as a small, dark disk moving across the face of the Sun. In 2012 it is visible on June 5 and 6 when the weather is clear.
Transits of Venus are very rare, the previous transit was in June 2004 and the next two will occur in December 2117 and December 2125.

Gijs, my third Jack Russel Terrier, has practically grown up on the island of Ameland. It seems to be his natural habitat. Although he is not much of a swimmer he loves to run on the beach.
Whenever I am photographing on the island of Ameland and I am waiting for the light to change, my dog Gijs always watches me patiently from a distant. He is a great little companion and always comes along.
A “Super Moon” is a full moon when it is closest to Earth on the so called perigee side of the moons elliptical orbit.
Tonight there is such a moon so if the skies are clear make sure to watch when the sun sets and the moon rises above the horizon in the East. It should be amazing…
